Outreach

Outreach literally changed my life. I was a college dropout working 70 hour workweeks to help support my family after my father lost his job. My father urged me to get a hobby. My friend convinced me to volunteer at the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland, Ohio in 2008 and that was it... I was hooked. I found a love for space, and science along with teaching and communicating. I was inspired by young scientist, and everyday I do my best to inspire them back. I have volunteered with The Moscow Museum of Cosmonautics, the Virginia Air and Space Center, the Georgia and Ohio Space Grant Consortiums and at the University of Akron, and given presentation in the USA, UAE, Russia and Armenia.

My alter ego, Ksmooth the Engineering Dude, puts on an astronaut space suit and gives talks and performs demonstrations around the world. Science, international cooperation, space exploration and the future are just examples of topics I discuss!

I focus on STREAM (Science Technology Research Engineering Arts and Mathematics). Most people have heard of STEM and STEAM, but I continue to add the R. What I have learned is that there is a big difference between being knowledgeable and intelligent. If you have a lot of knowledge but no idea how to use it intelligently, problems that have yet to be solved are out of reach. Research exercises thinking outside of the box. Taking knowledge of a situation and being able to apply it in unique situations.

If you have questions or inquires email me! For now I will leave you with a few photos!
